As Breast Cancer Awareness month approaches its end, I have a lot to be thankful for. In February of 2011, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and, after enduring the battery of tests required and waiting for answers, had a double mastectomy, followed by chemo, radiation and reconstruction, which I am hopeful is it for me. Writing that year and a half’s worth of medical and personal experiences in one sentence doesn’t come close to describing all the ups and downs, and above all’ the incredible support and love I was, and continue to be enveloped by. My mother was the loving rock anyone going through something this scary and unexpected could ever hope for. My family has been there for me every step of the way. My friends are an incredible group of people, for whom I am thankful daily! The people at Yale Smilow Cancer Hospital were, and continue to be, amazing.
I could go on and on about this today, but I have some other things I wanted to share. My younger daughter, Annie, is 15 today! Happy Birthday, my love. We are riding out Hurricane Sandy in New York. No trips to the design showrooms today..
Instead, I thought I would post some pictures of pink decorating that I like. And.. As always, if you are in the Lakeville, Ct area, please stop by Nest at our new location, open Fridays and Saturday’s 10-5, 11 Brook Street, Lakeville, CT. We are going to be participating in some fun holiday trunk show/vendor airs in November and will keep you posted!
Thanks for reading, and if you are the “Sandy Area”, stay safe!
